Exercise 4: Bad Examples of Design

The label featured above is an example of poor design. There is way too much information being overloaded on the reader meaning that they wont end up taking any of it in. There is too much noise going on, the text is layed out poorly and the tag over all is not asthetically pleasing.

The yellow pages is a perfect example of poor design. Unappealing bold black text with tiny advertisements featured next to eachother, unable to stand out from the one next to it. The hierarchy of information in most of the advertisments found in the yellow pages is quite often layed out wrong. Makes it very hard to read and find what your looking for. Infact the only good feature is that it's set out in alphabetical order.

This logo designed by London to enter the campaign to win the hosting of the 2012 Olympics made the rounds on many design forums because of its poor combination of shapes and colours. It only features 3 colours in it's palette, which sometimes can work effectively however this situation it does not. The shapes that are trying to portray the numbers 2012 are poorly executed leaving the viewer wondering what it is actually trying to portray.
